Is the Bible only a matter of faith or is it also a matter of truth?
1 Timothy 2:3-4 says “This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
God doesn’t just desire faith that leads to salvation, but truth. We have given “truth” to man, the world and the devil and left only “faith” to the church. According to scripture, this should not be so.
As followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and citizens of the Kingdom of God, we are at war with a world that refuses to be ruled by its Creator. When speaking of waging this war, the apostle Paul writes:
“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Arguments, opinions, knowledge and thoughts all concern information. Thus the war that we fight is a war of ideas. The battle is one of the mind. Information is spiritual in nature.
If this is true, we cannot as Christians be content to only apply biblical truth to matters of “religion” and “spirituality” If all knowledge is spiritual in nature, and if thoughts can be taken captive, the way we think about everything must bow the knee to Christ.
This is the ethos of Thoughts for Footstools. The purpose of this website is to compile teaching and resources that help frame the biblical lens through which we should examine all things; addressing matters regarding not only faith, but health, family, politics, science, technology, sociology and media.
